Newark Dragon Boat Festival will be back for 2026

Sunday 13th September at Newark Riverside Park

Based on a Chinese tradition dating back over 2,000 years, dragon boat racing has today become one of the fastest-growing and most popular water-based activities with 10 people paddling the 30' boat with a

drummer at the front.

As well as the main action taking place on the river there is a variety of local food and drink suppliers, a bar and a range of activities available throughout the day for the whole family, including live entertainment.

The event is raising funds for Beaumond House Hospice Care & The Children’s Bereavement Centre.

Everyone welcome. A fun day is promised for all of the family whilst raising vital funds for two local charities.

Beaumond House Hospice Care is a registered charity that is committed to providing supportive palliative care to patients with life limiting or terminal illnesses and their families living in Newark & Sherwood, since 1987.

Each year we provide care for over 500 patients and support to their families, caring for around 150 patients at any one time.

The Children’s Bereavement Centre is a local registered charity providing early intervention support for children and young people, age 3-18, in Nottinghamshire and parts of Lincolnshire who are experiencing life-changing trauma due to the death or terminal illness of someone they love.

The Centre is open to children aged 3 to 18 and we offer a welcoming and safe environment for them and their families to receive the help and guidance they need at one of the most devastating times in their lives.
